| These photo's were taken by me John Grant and Craig Oliphant of the last train to run from Newcastle to Consett on the 17th March 1984.
I was the Guard of the train from Heaton Carriage sidings to Newcastle and then on up to Consett High Yard, Craig Oliphant was one of the passengers on the train that day and after all these years I have just come across his photo's which he has given me permission to show in this gallery.The train was organised by the Derwentside Rail Action Group. The train was double crewed by men from both Newcastle and Tyne Yard. If anyone else out there was on this trip or was just there for the day and have any photo's of this occasion I will be only to pleased to show them on this gallery all credited to the photographer, contact me via this site.
